Meth lab found in NY home for recovering addicts

CANTON, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities have charged three men with setting up a methamphetamine lab in a northern New York home for recovering alcohol and substance abusers.

Police in the St. Lawrence County village of Canton tell WWNY-TV in Watertown (http://bit.ly/TxtC1c ) that a staff member discovered the meth lab early Wednesday morning while making her rounds at the North Country Freedom Home. The organization provides services to recovering addicts.

Officials say when officers arrived, they found a partially disassembled portable meth lab, part of which was found in the house and the rest in a wooded area behind the property.

Police charged three local men ages 25, 28 and 30 with unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine and criminal possession of the materials used to make the drug. They're being held in the county jail.
