CINCINNATI (AP) — The committee searching for the person to fill the post of University of Cincinnati president has recommended interim president Santa Ono for the job.

The committee on Monday decided to recommend the former UC provost who has been filling in as president since the resignation of Greg Williams in August. Williams resigned for what the school called personal reasons.

The Cincinnati Enquirer (http://cin.ci/T6wZ4A ) reports that trustees are expected to vote on the committee's recommendation at their next meeting Oct. 23.

Ono came to UC in 2010 from Emory University in Atlanta.

Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory is a committee member. He says Ono is more than prepared to lead the university.

The newspaper says the committee never hired a search firm and did not schedule other interviews.
