HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) — Two hikers missing in Glacier National Park have western Maryland connections.

Veterinarians Neal Peckens and Jason Hiser, both 32, were reported missing by family members Friday after failing to catch a flight home from Montana.

Peckens is a graduate of Boonsboro High School. He is listed as a cardiologist at Chesapeake Veterinary Cardiology Associates with offices in Vienna, Va., and Springfield, Va.

Hiser is listed as an associate veterinarian at Broad Street Veterinary Hospital in Richmond, Va. His biography on the hospital's website says he earned a bachelor's degree at Frostburg State University in western Maryland.

Peckens' aunt Kathy Stiles told The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown newspaper that the friends met at medical school. Both graduated from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in Blacksburg, Va.
