NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — A tenant rummaging through the basement of an apartment building in Connecticut says he discovered a suit he believes belonged to the late actor Paul Newman.

Peter Gamlen, a 23-year-old British illustrator, said he found the suit among clothes stuffed in a trash bag.

Gamlen, who works in a clothing store, says the suit was by the tailor Henry Stewart, whose clients included Newman. He says the tailor's tag on the suit listed the client as Newman.

He says he also found a photo of Newman in the pocket of another sports jacket.

The owner of the New Haven building says she has no idea how Newman's clothes could have wound up in the basement.

Newman died in 2008. He lived in Westport, about 30 miles from New Haven.
