ATLANTA (AP) — Authorities are investigating a suspicious package found in one of the buildings of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta.

DeKalb County Police spokeswoman Mekka Parish said the package had been mailed to the CDC and officials are trying to determine whether the package contained any hazardous or explosive materials.

The CDC said in a statement shortly before 4 p.m. Tuesday that offices within the immediate area had been evacuated. No injuries have been reported and it was not immediately known how many people were evacuated.
