Potential penalties Sandusky faces at sentencing

Tuesday October 9, 2012 6:00 AM

UNDATED (AP) — A Pennsylvania judge will have some leeway when sentencing former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky today on 45 counts of child sexual abuse.

By law, the minimum sentences for those 45 counts add up to 220 years; the maximum sentences add up to 440 years.

But the lowest sentence Sandusky could receive is 10 years, should Judge John Cleland decide to give him minimum sentences that run concurrently on each count.

Sandusky lawyer Joe Amendola says, "it's as certain as certain can be" that Sandusky will address the judge and claim his innocence before he is sentenced.
