Furnace malfunctioned in Ohio home where 2 died

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Toledo police say a house where a pair of siblings died had a malfunctioning furnace that heated the residence to more than 100 degrees.

The 74-year-old woman and 60-year-old man were found dead on Friday. Autopsies are pending the results of a carbon-monoxide poisoning test. The (Toledo) Blade (http://bit.ly/SI18VT ) reports that another sister who lived there woke up and discovered them.

Police said the furnace malfunctioned, but the home was so crowded with the residents' belongings that only one cold-air return vent was uncovered. That caused the furnace to continue pushing heat into the home.
