Bismarck hospital joins Mayo Clinic network

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck has joined a network of hospitals connected with the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

Officials say the move will enable St. Alexius doctors to connect electronically with Mayo specialists, allowing more patients to stay closer to home. It is not an acquisition or a merger, but a collaboration.

Altru Health System in Grand Forks also is a member of the network that now includes 10 hospitals around the country.

Bismarck's other hospital, formerly known as Medcenter One, merged with Dakotas-based Sanford Health this summer.
