CHICAGO (AP) — ComEd has started an energy efficiency program that is taught by people with developmental disabilities for those with similar issues.
ComEd announced the program on Monday. The utility says tens of thousands of individuals with developmental disabilities are responsible for managing energy usage. ComEd is partnering with eight nonprofit organizations in Chicago and the suburbs that work with the developmentally disabled.
ComEd trained representatives from each group to teach easy and simple energy-efficiency tips to a larger audience. ComEd officials say the groups will each conduct eight to 10 outreach events before the end of the year.
ComEd is part of Chicago-based Exelon Corp.
