ASHTABULA, Ohio (AP) — Authorities in northeast Ohio are investigating an apparent double killing of a woman and her daughter.

Ashtabula (ash-tuh-BYOO'-luh) city police have not disclosed the names of the 40-year-old woman and her 20-year-old daughter. One had been shot and another suffered unspecified body trauma.

According to The (Ashtabula) Star-Beacon, city police are investigating the deaths as a double homicide.

Investigator Rich Mongell (mahn-JEL') with the Ashtabula County coroner's office said Monday it's unclear how long they had been dead.

According to WEWS-TV in Cleveland, family members had last seen the women on Friday.

There was no immediate word from police identifying a possible suspect or motive.

Ashtabula is located along the Interstate 90 corridor about 15 miles from the Pennsylvania border.
