Delaware authorities urge flu vaccinations

Friday October 5, 2012 12:30 AM

NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) — State officials are rolling up their sleeves and getting to work on a flu vaccination campaign.

Gov. Jack Markell and Lt. Gov. Matt Denn planned to get their flu shots Friday to help emphasize the need for other Delawareans to get vaccinated.

Public health officials are launching preparations for the 2012-2013 flu season by offering free vaccines to New Castle County residents.

Friday's flu clinic at the New Castle Farmer's Market is also a timed drill so Division of Public Health staff can practice their readiness in the event of a large scale health emergency.
