HOUSTON (AP) — An immigrant from Kazakhstan and others accused of scheming to send controlled military technology to Russia are expected to appear in court.
An indictment alleges Alexander Fishenko and 10 others sold cutting-edge microelectronics that could be used in Russian weapons systems. It also charges Fishenko with money laundering and operating inside the United States as an unregistered agent of the Russian government.
Fishenko and six others in custody are expected to appear in Houston federal court Thursday morning.
Authorities say Fishenko is a naturalized U.S. citizen and owner of Houston-based Arc Electronics Inc. The microelectronics he allegedly helped to ship could have a wide range of military uses.
