EAGLE BUTTE, S.D. (AP) — A nonprofit organization on the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation has released a documentary in an effort to educate tribal members about diabetes prevention.

The Cheyenne River Youth Project says the 30-minute video, titled "Diabetes Is Not Our Way," describes what diabetes is and the rise of the disease among the Lakota population. It also features efforts to present Type 2 diabetes among Cheyenne River's young people.

The video is part of a public awareness campaign about diabetes on the reservation.

The Diabetes Action Research and Education Foundation and the Lowenstein Foundation provided funding for the project.
