DETROIT (AP) — Detroit Mayor Dave Bing has suspended the city's top law enforcement officer amid allegations that the married police chief had a sexual relationship with a subordinate.

Bing said Tuesday Ralph Godbee is suspended for 30 days but didn't elaborate on the allegations.

Attorney David Robinson tells The Associated Press Godbee had a relationship with his client, 37-year-old internal affairs officer Angelica Robinson.

David Robinson says Angelica Robinson posted a photo of herself on Twitter with a gun in her mouth after learning Godbee was at a weekend conference with another woman.

He says Godbee had other officers locate Angelica Robinson and put her under surveillance. She's been reassigned to other duties and doesn't have use of her service weapon.

Police spokeswoman Eren Stephens says Godbee couldn't be reached for comment.
