BOULDER CITY, Nev. (AP) — President Barack Obama is making an unexpected tourist stop at the Hoover Dam.

Obama, secluded in Nevada to prepare for Wednesday's presidential debate, took a break to visit the dam. The giant structure is considered one of the world's great engineering feats and is a popular tourist attraction.

The president was seen by reporters looking out at the dam upon his arrival. The dam is about 30 miles outside of Las Vegas.

Obama mentioned the dam in his State of the Union address this year as an example of America's history of building up its infrastructure during hard times.

Said Obama then: "During the Great Depression, America built the Hoover Dam and the Golden Gate Bridge."
