Central Ohio officer injured in crash

NEWARK, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say a central Ohio police officer has been hospitalized after an early morning crash.

The single-car crash happened around 4 a.m. in Newark, east of Columbus. Dispatcher Wes Luce said an officer was responding to a pursuit by other officers on the other side of the city at the time.

Luce said officer, whose name hasn't been released, was taken to a local hospital and is being transferred to a Columbus medical center. The extent of his injures wasn't known.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
