Polk County hosts drive-thru flu clinic

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Polk County health officials say it's time for motorists to roll up their sleeves for the annual drive-thru flu clinic.

The health department will host the clinic on Saturday at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines. Drivers and passengers can get a flu shot without leaving their vehicle.

Department Director Rick Kozin says the clinic is a convenient way for people to get a flu shot without scheduling an appointment or waiting in a crowded clinic room. He says a vaccination is the easiest way to avoid the flu and the drive-thru clinic makes it even easier.

Most major insurance plans are accepted. The cost for those without insurance is $20. Officials say no one will be turned away because of an ability to pay.
