RAHWAY, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say a driver escaped serious injury when his car was struck by a New Jersey Transit train in northern New Jersey.

The man, whose name was not released, was the only person in the vehicle when the crash occurred around noon Saturday in Rahway. He was being treated at a hospital for undisclosed injuries, but further details were not disclosed.

No one aboard the Northeast Corridor train was injured, but it was damaged. So the 900 passengers were moved to another train to complete their trip. The train had left Trenton around 11 a.m. and was headed to New York.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

Authorities say the tracks are elevated where the crash occurred, so it's not clear how the car got on the rails.
