Caddo residents can turn in old drugs Saturday

SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) — Caddo Parish residents can dispose of unwanted prescription drugs Saturday as part of National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.

Local law enforcement authorities are working with the Drug Enforcement Administration to collect old, unwanted and expired medications. The program is free and participants remain anonymous.

Caddo Parish deputies and Shreveport police officers will collect medications from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Sheriff's Safety Town, 8910 Jewella Ave. in Shreveport.

Authorities will accept prescription and over-the-counter medications, such as tablets, capsules, and sealed liquids. All identifying information such as name, address, and prescription number should be removed. Intra-venous solutions, injectables and needles will not be accepted.
