ARLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — Most of them have long lost the cowlicks, blond hair and rail-thin builds that made them perfect choices to pose for Norman Rockwell.
Twenty or so residents of the small Vermont town of Arlington who were children when they posed in the 1940s for their neighbor are reuniting Saturday to share their memories of the great American artist.
An estimated 300 people from the area modeled for Rockwell during his 14 years in the southern Vermont town. Seventy or so are still living. Many live in and around Arlington.
James "Buddy" Edgerton is now 82 and posed for Rockwell at least a dozen times. He says that "I think it's important that the models keep the tradition of the image that Vermont, Arlington in particular, was important in Norman Rockwell's biography."
