BOSTON (AP) — Advocates for defendants whose drug samples were handled by a chemist at the center of a Massachusetts lab shutdown say they're shocked and troubled over new revelations about her work.

According to a police report, Annie Dookhan admitted she faked drug sample results for two to three years, forged signatures and skipped proper procedures.

Other investigation records showed some of Dookhan's colleagues had concerns for years about the high number of samples she tested and inconsistencies in her work.

One defense attorney says she "can't imagine she could have been this corrupt without someone noticing." Another says the problems could have affected all the testing done at the lab.

Dookhan hasn't been criminally charged, but the state attorney general is investigating. She hasn't responded to repeated requests for comment.
