NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Investigators say they are looking for two children they initially believed had perished in a farmhouse fire along with their step-grandparents.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday issued an endangered child alert for 9-year-old Chloie Leverette and 7-year-old Gage Daniel.

Investigators say they could not find the children's remains in the house in Bedford County about a half-hour from Nashville.

The children were last seen by neighbors on Sunday evening before the fire destroyed the home.

The Bedford County sheriff has said they found the remains of 72-year-old Leon "Bubba" McClaran and his 70-year-old wife, Molli McClaran. Relatives say they are the children's step-grandparents.

But the TBI says the children were not victims of the fire and their whereabouts are unknown. They are asking for the public's help.
