COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio seminary has cancelled a theologian's lecture after the seminary, the professor's school and another college received questionable letters and phone calls.

Trinity Lutheran Seminary in suburban Columbus said Wednesday the school was not satisfied that Thursday's lecture by professor James Cone of Union Theological Seminary in New York could be presented without disruption.

The seminary said in recent weeks someone in Columbus communicated intentions that were not clear to the university.

The intentions came via phone calls and letters to administrators at Trinity, Union Theological Seminary and Capital University in Bexley in suburban Columbus.

Cone told the Columbus Dispatch Wednesday (http://bit.ly/SADCeO ) he had a gut feeling it was best not to come.

Cone was to lecture on his latest book, "The Cross and the Lynching Tree."
