COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio's governor is ribbing the presidential candidates, saying they're spending so much time in the contested battleground state they should pay income tax.
Gov. John Kasich (KAY'-sihk) quipped Wednesday in Columbus he ought to get President Barack Obama and Republican Mitt Romney "to pay a little money to us, you know, as much as they're here."
The two candidates had multiple campaign stops in the state on Wednesday as they jockey for Ohio's 18 electoral votes.
Most recent polls show Obama with a lead over Romney in Ohio, a state considered a must-win for both.
Kasich, a Republican, said he doesn't pay attention to a lot of polls. He said if the race wasn't close, then Obama and Romney wouldn't be in the state "like every day."
