DETROIT (AP) — Wayne State University says it's getting a $2.8 million federal grant to continue operating the Developmental Disabilities Institute for five years.
The Detroit school says the money comes from the U.S. Administration for Children and Families.
Wayne State says the institute provides services to people with disabilities, their families and those who work with them throughout Michigan. It opened in the 1960s at the University of Michigan and moved to Wayne State in 1983.
The program comes up for review every five years.
The university says the program has trained 60,000 teachers and 18,000 direct care workers.
