Del. health officials launch flu vaccine effort

Wednesday September 26, 2012 3:00 AM

DOVER, Del. (AP) — Delaware public health officials are launching their 2012-13 flu vaccination efforts in Kent and Sussex counties.

Officials will be discussing the effort and providing free vaccines to the public at an event Thursday at the DelDOT training center in Dover.

The event is also a timed drill for public health staff to determine emergency response in the event of a large-scale health emergency.

Officials say the flu kills thousands of people in the U.S. every year, and that vaccinations are more important than ever.
