SAN DIEGO (AP) — A San Diego couple has donated $25 million to build a medical building at the Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla.

U-T San Diego (bit.ly/VF2y3u) says Eileen and John Anderson are funding construction of a medical pavilion and outpatient clinic in honor of their son, John, who died of cancer in 2004.

The six-story, 175,000-square-foot facility will be completed in 2016.

The Andersons live in La Jolla. John Anderson is a retired structural engineer who owned a Pasadena-based company.
