Number of Okla. West Nile Virus cases hits 151

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The Oklahoma State Health Department says the number of West Nile Virus cases in the state has risen to 151.

According to the department's website on Tuesday, the number of deaths reported to the agency's Acute Disease Service as of Saturday remained at eight.

In Oklahoma, the West Nile Virus season runs from May to November, and people are at greatest risk of exposure to infected mosquitoes from July through October.

From 2002 through 2011, 327 cases were reported and 21 Oklahomans died from the virus.
