COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Two central Ohio police officers have been cleared in the shooting death of a burglary suspect who they say struck one of them with an SUV as he tried to get away.

The Columbus Dispatch (http://bit.ly/SrnBHU ) reports Tuesday that a grand jury declined to indict Columbus officers Robin Medley and Christopher Britt.

The officers said they saw 36-year-old Michael Kelly trying to steal a catalytic converter from a vehicle Jan. 6. The officers said that when they identified themselves and tried to arrest him, Kelly tried to drive away in an SUV, which struck Britt. Both officers fired shots.

A Franklin County grand jury reviewed the shooting Friday.
