NFL REPLACEMENT REFEREES - The lockout of the NFL's referees has caused an uproar in the first three weeks of the new season. The furor over the work of the NFL's replacement referees has been stoked by the game-winning play at the end of the Seahawks-Packers game. Criticism of the officiating on the field has been coming from all quarters over the replacement referees bad and questionable calls.

CLINTON GLOBAL INITIATIVE - President Barack Obama and Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney speak at the Clinton Global Initiative today in New York City, with foreign policy at the top of the agenda.

UNITED NATIONS GENERAL ASSEMBLY - The 64th UN General Assembly kicks off today and President Barack Obama will address the morning session.

IRANIAN PRESIDENT AHMADINEJAD - The AP sits down with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. On Monday, when asked about Israel's threat to attack Iran's nuclear sites, Ahmadinejad said Iran is 'ready to defend ourselves.'

PRESIDENT AND FIRST LADY ON 'THE VIEW' - President Obama responds to Barbara Walter's question on ABC's 'The View' about what it would mean for the country if Mitt Romney were elected. The complete interview airs today.

WA, SEATTLE APPROVES NEW ARENA, LOOKING FOR NBA TEAM - Seattle is hoping to attract professional basketball and hockey, after the City Council approved a new arena. The NBA Seattle Supersonics left the city in 2008.

CA, FIRES KILL 1, DESTROY 20 HOMES - Authorities in San Diego County, California report that a huge fire killed one elderly man and destroyed 20 homes.

SD, BUFFALO STAMPEDE DRAWS THOUSANDS - Thousands gathered at Custer State Park in South Dakota for the annual Buffalo Roundup. The event was created nearly 50 years ago to manage the buffalo herd, and draws spectators from around the world.

TN, BILLBOARD COUNTERS ANTI-MUSLIM SENTIMENT - A billboard that says 'Love your Muslim neighbors' has gone up in the Tennessee community where residents have been split over the construction of a new mosque.

GA, NEWSPAPER: CHEATING COMPLAINTS GLOSSED OVER - School administrators and state education officials across the country have received complaints about cheating on standardized tests echoing those in Atlanta. (Sept. 24)

NY, ANTI-IRAN PROTEST IN NEW YORK - An anti-Iran group protested outside a New York hotel against Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who is staying in the hotel while he is in the city to address the UN General Assembly. (Sept. 24)

SYRIA - Several bombs went off inside a school in Damascus that activists say was being used by regime forces as a security headquarters.

TIBETAN EXILES MEET IN INDIA - Tibetan exiles from around the world met in India to discuss how to respond to dozens of self-immolations by Tibetans and find new ways to garner global support for the Tibetan cause.

CHINA-JAPAN ISLAND DISPUTE - Japanese coastguard vessels, armed with loudspeakers and fire hoses, closed in on a Taiwanese fishing fleet of some 60 boats as it neared the disputed East China Sea islands known as Senkaku in Japan and Diaoyu in China.

UK FLOODING - Parts of the United Kingdom were hit by flooding following heavy downpours, with some areas experiencing more than a month's rain in 24 hours. Areas of Scotland were badly affected, and the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency issued a flood warning saying that river levels were expected to continue to rise around the Tyne's Nungate Bridge.

RETROSPECTIVE OF HOLOCAUST CARTOONS - The work of the Pulitzer winning cartoonist, Art Spiegelman, is being celebrated with a major retrospective of his powerful Holocaust cartoons in Cologne. The Maus series portrays Jews as mice and Nazis as cats, but the show also contains the impressive series 'in the shadow of no towers' which reflects on the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

CHINESE ART FINDS AUSTRALIAN FANS - Contemporary Chinese art is finding a new audience in Australia. Play and irony are two key themes which see former politcal leaders such as Yasser Arafat and Fidel Castro vying for space within the same installation. The Chinese art, by artist Sun Yuan, is on display at the Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation.

UK CAKE AND BAKE SHOW - Fifty Shades of Grey cupcakes are one of the hottest design trends exciting baking enthusiasts this year at the 2012 Cake and Bake Show in London.
