BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — People from community groups and professional associations took a bus tour of five hospitals from New Orleans to Pineville affected by hundreds of millions of dollars in state budget cuts.

The Advocate (http://bit.ly/NKVKR1) reports that former patient Deborah Hughes of Baton Rouge told the group that doctors at Earl K. Long Hospital saved her life. She said it's not just people on Medicaid who need it but people like her who don't qualify for Medicaid but don't have adequate insurance.

The "Louisiana Medicaid Misery" bus tour on Saturday also visited New Orleans Adolescent Hospital, Southeast Louisiana Hospital in Mandeville, Lallie Kemp Hospital in Independence and Central State Hospital in Pineville.
