BOONE, Iowa (AP) — Two people have been injured in a central Iowa house fire.

The blaze started just after 3 a.m. Sunday in Boone.

Des Moines television station KCCI says (http://bit.ly/UJIqgV ) Linda Cleary and her fiancé, Bob, escaped unharmed. But out-of-town friends staying with them, Larry and Cindy Barrett, were injured.

Boone Fire Chief says there were screams for help, and firefighters knocked out a window so they could rescue the trapped couple.

Cindy Barrett's mother, Bernadine Goetzman, says her daughter was taken to an Iowa City hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation and her son-in-law was being treated for burns.

The fire cause is being investigated.
