SNOQUALMIE, Wash. (AP) — Authorities says six inmates from a juvenile detention center in Washington state escaped after knocking out a female staff member, but all were captured early Sunday hiding in nearby woods.

The King County Sheriff's department says about 11:30 p.m. Saturday deputies received word of the escape from the Echo Glen Children's Center on the outskirts of Snoqualmie, about 25 miles east Seattle.

Spokeswoman Cindi West says the six males range in age from 15 to 17 and serving time for offenses including assault, possession of firearms and burglary.

She says officers on the ground with search dogs and in the air combed the area before a helicopter spotted them in woods near the center.

All were caught by 2 a.m. Sunday. West says she had no early word of any injuries.

She says the staff member suffered a non-life threatening injury to her head.
