YAPHANK, N.Y. (AP) — A youth baseball coach from Long Island, N.Y., has been arrested on charges of stalking his rival's family and sending threatening text messages.
Newsday reports (http://bit.ly/OPHQJi ) that 45-year-old Robert Sanfilippo, who manages a team of 10- and 11-year-old boys, was arrested during a game in Yaphank on Friday.
Police say Sanfilippo got into a dispute with another coach, then later bought an untraceable phone and started sending text messages threatening to harm the coach, his son and his wife.
The other coach, John Reardon, told Newsday the texts included pictures of his family and one that said the sender was going to pick up Reardon's 10-year-old son at his bus stop.
Sanfilippo was awaiting arraignment Saturday. It wasn't clear if he had an attorney.
