CINCINNATI (AP) — Teams from the United States, Canada and Mexico are competing in a fireworks contest in southwest Ohio.

The international fireworks competition produced by Rozzi Famous Fireworks in Loveland was being held Saturday at the Coney Island Amusement Park along the banks of the Ohio River in suburban Cincinnati.

Palm bursts, spiders, whizzers, screechers and splitting comets will be among the fireworks judged by a panel of five members and by the public. Each show will be evaluated on factors such as presentation, structure and scale, colors, originality and music synchronization.

The competitors include Alonzo Fireworks from Mechanicville, N.Y. and Sirius Pyrotechnics of Quebec, Canada. Lux Pirotecnia will be the Mexican competitor.

Rozzi will present the night's finale fireworks exhibition.
