Eugene cat bring home rabid bat

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — A house cat brought a rabid bat home to a Eugene family.

Health officials have confirmed the bat found Sept. 14 carried rabies.

The Register-Guard reports (http://is.gd/hJtPMP ) Lane County health officials are urging residents to avoid animals that could be exposed to the rabies virus and to make sure pets are vaccinated.
