SPACE SHUTTLE ENDEAVOUR CONTINUES JOURNEY - The Space Shuttle Endeavour continues its cross-country voyage today in California, flying by the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and the Hollywood sign in Los Angeles.
US SURGE TROOPS LEAVE AFGHANISTAN - The last of the 33,000 surge troops deployed to Afghanistan two years ago have now left. 68,000 U.S. forces remain in the warzone.
OBAMA-BIDEN CAMPAIGN - President Obama delivers remarks to the AARP convention in New Orleans, followed by a campaign event in Virginia. Vice President Joe Biden campaigns in New Hampshire.

NY, IPHONE 5 FANS WAIT OVERNIGHT IN NEW YORK - New Yorkers were standing in line overnight into Friday morning in advance of the sale of the new iPhone 5 at an Apple store in Manhattan.
GA, ABUSED GEORGIA TEEN FOUND IN LOS ANGELES BUS STATION - Police are guarding the Georgia home of a couple accused of child cruelty after a teenage boy was found wandering a Los Angeles bus station. The teen weighed 87 pounds and told police his abusive stepfather gave him $200 and a list of homeless shelters before he was put on a bus to Los Angeles on his 18th birthday.
FL, USAID ROUNDTABLE IN CORAL GABLES - The head of the USAID speaks at a roundtable discussion about development priorities in Latin America and across the globe.
NY, NEW BROOKLYN ARENA OPENS - The Brooklyn Nets are opening a new arena, welcoming Brooklyn back to the sports world.
WA, MASSIVE WASHINGTON FIRE TRIPLES IN SIZE - The Table Mountain fire in Washington State is now burning 47 square miles. The fire is only 4% contained.
DC, PANDA CUB GROOMED AT NATIONAL ZOO - Panda Cam viewers got another peek at the new panda cub at the Smithsonian's National Zoo. Female giant panda Mei Xiang can be seen picking up the squealing cub, then placing it on the ground for grooming.
RI, ACCUSED 'BEARDED BANDIT' BEHIND BARS - A man accused of being the Bearded Bandit is in custody in Rhose Island. Justin Worley is accused of robbing as many as nine banks in Masschusetts and Rhode Island.
CA, TAIWAN COMPANY FINED $500M FOR LCD PRICE FIXING - A Taiwanese company has been fined $500 million and two of its former top executives sentenced to three years in prison for leading roles in a global LCD screen price-fixing conspiracy. (Sept. 20)
CO, MAN WINS $7 MILLION IN POPCORN LUNG LAWSUIT - A suburban Denver man who was diagnosed with "popcorn lung," possibly from inhaling the artificial butter smell of the microwave popcorn he regularly ate, has won a $7.2 million verdict against various food companies. (Sept. 20)
MA, SPEECH JAMMER AMONG 2012 IG NOBEL WINNERS - The Speech Jammer, a device that disrupts a person's speech by repeating his or her own voice at a delay of a few hundred milliseconds, was named as a 2012 winner of the Ig Nobel prize. (Sept. 20)

BLACKBERRY HIT WITH OUTAGE AS IPHONE 5 LAUNCHES - Research in Motion says it has resolved an outage affecting users in Europe, Middle East and Africa interrupting service for customers.
AUSTRALIAN DEPUTY PM WARNS REPUBLICANS 'CRAZIES' THREAT TO ECONOMY - Australia's deputy prime minister warned that the greatest threat to the U.S. economy are the "cranks and crazies" in the Republican Party, a rare foray into American domestic politics that was blasted by the opposition.
ANTI-ISLAM FILM PROTESTS - Protests continue across the Middle East and Asia against the anti-Islam film that was produced in the United States.
AUSTRALIAN COURT RULES LEHMAN BROTHERS LIABLE TO PAY PENALTIES - The Federal Court in Australia has ruled that investment bank Lehman Brothers is liable to pay hundreds of millions of dollars in compensation to its Australian investors, according to local media reports.
IRAN MILITARY PARADE - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad accused the West of trying to cause religious conflicts as he criticized a film made in the U.S. that mocks the Prophet Muhammad. Speaking at a military parade, Ahmadinejad claimed the west was hiding behind freedom of speech laws as it allowed insults to be launched at the Prophet.
IPHONE 5 GOES ON SALE - The new iPhone 5 draws long lines at Apple stores around the world. The smartphone is on sale in North America, Asia and Europe.

The warning of medication overuse has come from the UK's National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence.
BRITISH COLLEGE STUDENTS BECOME INTERNET CHEF SENSATIONS - Online chefs are taking the Internet by storm, sharing and making videos of their favorite recipes. Like Sorted, a bunch of university friends who decided to launch their internet cookery channel on YouTube. Today, with over 14 million views, they're counted as one of the most successful YouTube channels in the world and have just signed their first publishing deal for a cookbook.
TOKYO GAMESHOW EMBRACES SOCIAL MEDIA - The rules of the game have changed for console manufacturers at this year's Tokyo Game Show. Games designers are focusing their resources on social media, mobile devices and smartphones.
