ABIDJAN, Ivory Coast (AP) — An Ivory Coast military official said one soldier was killed in an attack on security installations in the commercial capital of Abidjan Thursday night.

Kakao Kouassi, communications chief for the military chief of staff, said gunmen hit two police stations and one gendarmerie post in the city's Port-Bouet district, home to the international airport. Citing witnesses, he said some of the attackers wore military uniforms, and he noted that the final casualty total had not been confirmed.

The attack was the first this month after seven attacks were carried out against Ivory Coast security forces in August. The government of President Alassane Ouattara has blamed the attacks on loyalists of former President Laurent Gbagbo, whose political party has denied the allegations. Gbagbo is currently awaiting trial at the The Hague.
