HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — The wresting empire that Connecticut Senate candidate Linda McMahon once ran says it's removing raunchy internet content that has become fodder for her Democratic rivals.
The WWE on Monday removed a video montage of clips from 2002 to 2006 from a video sharing website called Vimeo. The montage was made in 2010, during McMahon's first bid for the Senate.
Brian Flinn, a WWE spokesman, says the company is vigilantly protecting its corporate reputation because the old footage does not represent today's PG-rated material.
Democrats backing congressman Chris Murphy in the race say they'll find other ways of airing the footage. McMahon's touts her record as CEO on the campaign trail.
Connecticut is central to the fight for Senate control. Republicans must gain four seats to win the majority.
