FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) — Two West Nile virus cases were reported last week in San Juan County.

The Farmington Daily Times reports (http://bit.ly/UeFlFE) that the county now has had three West Nile cases so far this year.

A 32-year-old woman and a 70-year-old woman from San Juan County were reported to have the virus last week.

Both women have developed encephalitis and meningitis.

Health officials say there have been 26 cases statewide, including one resulting in a death.

Authorities said last week that a 76-year-old man from Bernalillo County died from the virus.

Officials say the man had the more severe clinical form of the disease, which includes meningitis and encephalitis.

Common symptoms include fever, nausea, headache, and muscle aches.
