CLEVELAND, Miss. (AP) — Delta State University has received a three-year $263,286 grant for participation in a counseling program on suicide prevention among students.
Delta State is among 40 colleges nationwide to participate in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration project for the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention.
The Garrett Lee Smith Suicide Prevention Grant provides that the schools through their counseling centers will train faculty and students on at-risk programs, hold educational seminar, promote the National Suicide Hotline and develop information for parents and students on warning signs that could lead to suicide.
The money also will let the schools strengthen campus network and infrastructure to address the mental health needs of their students.
