PHOENIX (AP) — A high school student in Buckeye has been diagnosed with the MRSA skin infection and may have exposed two others while participating in a wrestling club.

Agua Fria Union High School District officials say Verrado High School's physical education facilities including the wrestling room, weight room and the boy's locker room were disinfected Thursday. They say the treated rooms will be inspected again Monday and won't be open for use throughout this weekend.

The district has more than 6,640 students and four high schools in Goodyear, Avondale and Buckeye west of Phoenix.

MRSA is a contagious bacterial infection often called a superbug because it is resistant to many commonly used antibiotics.

The Arizona Republic (http://bit.ly/SM85HN) says the two other students exposed are being tested to determine if they've been infected.
