DETROIT (AP) — A police preliminary investigation reveals that a 13-year-old Detroit boy who claimed he was abducted from his elementary school and sexually assaulted may know the two men he says attacked him.

Detroit police say in a release Thursday that the alleged rape "does not appear to be a random act" and that a person of interest has been identified and is being sought.

Residents near Wayne Elementary on the city's east side saw the boy walking near the school about 2 p.m. Wednesday with his hands duct-taped behind his back.

The boy told his family that he was snatched from a school entrance after opening the door for a man he thought was a parent. City police and school district officers have questioned the truth behind his story.
