SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Police say a man armed with a gun is holed up inside a South Dakota hair salon after a woman was found shot to death in a car he was believed to be driving.
Sgt. Loren McManus says the man released four employees from inside the Cost Cutter's salon in Sioux Falls and is believed to be alone inside Tuesday. His condition is unknown.
McManus says police believe the man had earlier taken his two young children from a babysitter's home. Soon after, police got a report of a car wreck near the salon and discovered a woman dead of a gunshot wound inside the vehicle.
McManus says the children are in police custody.
Businesses around the salon have been evacuated and two nearby schools are locked down.
