Ohio school board mulls state report card release

Tuesday September 11, 2012 7:45 AM

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The state school board is expected to decide how to proceed with school report cards that were delayed because of a probe into possible tampering with student attendance records.

The board is expected to discuss the issue during a meeting Tuesday. Options include releasing partial data, releasing reports but with a disclaimer, or continuing to hold off.

The report cards show how well schools are meeting state standards.

On Monday, the state auditor told the board that releasing state report cards won't hamper his investigation into school districts tampering with attendance data to boost performance rankings.

Out of concern that data manipulation created flaws in the report cards, the school board voted last month to delay their release.
