CLEVELAND (AP) — An Ohio prosecutor says police officers were justified in fatally shooting a man who had gunned down his estranged wife and two of his daughters at a Cleveland-area restaurant.
Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Bill Mason said Monday that officers followed protocol when they killed Kevin Allen on April 11 at a Cracker Barrel restaurant.
The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer (http://bit.ly/TKSTID ) reports that full review of the incident was completed by the Ohio Attorney General's Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
Witnesses said the 51-year-old Allen went into the restaurant with a shotgun and selectively fired on his family. He killed 42-year-old wife Katherina Allen and 9-year-old daughter Kerri. Another daughter, 10-year-old Kayla, died about a month later.
Police shot Allen when he brandished a loaded shotgun.
