NY 9/11 MUSEUM TO FEATURE VICTIMS' FACES, VOICES - The faces and recorded voices of those who died have been unveiled as part of the future 9/11 Memorial Museum. The museum's exhibition 'In Memoriam' will honor the 2,982 people who were killed. Families have donated personal items to the exhibit including a wedding ring and a loved one's watch that stopped on the date 9/11. No opening date has been set for the museum.

NEW YORK PREPARES TO MARK 9/11 - New York is preparing to mark 11 years since the September 11, 2001 terror attacks. Relatives will read the victims' names at a ceremony near the World Trade Center site.
PANETTA LAUDS FLIGHT 93 PASSENGERS, CREW IN PA - Defense Secretary Leon Panetta says the Flight 93 National Memorial in western Pennsylvania 'is the final resting place of American patriots.'
WTC SITE PROGRESSES SLOW, BUT STEADY - Construction at the World Trade Center site is still plugging along 11 years after the 9/11 attacks and officials say they are working to open the museum as soon as possible.

WORLD TRADE CENTER - Family members of victims of the 2001 and 1993 attacks at the World Trade Center will be participating in this year's reading of the names. The ceremony will pause at six moments - twice to mark the times that each plane hit the towers, twice to mark the time when each tower fell and to mark the moments of the attacks on the Pentagon and on Flight 93. The AP will be at the site to speak to family members as well as at the Fireman's Monument where a separate ceremony is being held.
OBAMA AND FIRST LADY IN DC - President Obama, first lady Michelle Obama and White House staff gather on the South Lawn of the White House to observe a moment of silence. The president and first lady will then join Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta at an event at the Pentagon.
ROMNEY IN NEVADA - Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney speaks at the annual conference of the National Guard Association of the United States in Reno, Nevada.
CONGRESS CEREMONY - Members of Congress will particpate in a Congressional Rememberance Ceremony in Washington, D.C.
CHICAGO TEACHERS STRIKE - Teachers continue to strike in Chicago for a second day after the Teacher's Union and the district failed to reach a settlement. Parents are scrambling to figure out what to do with their children. Some are opting to drop their children at one of the 144 schools that the district staffed with non-union workers and other employees. Others refuse to leave their children in unfamiliar schools with people they don't know, opting instead to stay at home and hope for a quick solution.
MISSILE KILLS YEMEN AL QAIDA'S DEPUTY - A missile strike killed al Qaida's No. 2 leader in Yemen. Officials could not confirm if the U.S. was involved.
ANDY MURRAY WINS U.S. OPEN - Andy Murray defeated Novak Djokovic in a thrilling five-set U.S. Open final. He's the first British man to win a Grand Slam singles tennis event in 76 years.

OR, WILDFIRE NEAR PORTLAND - A wildfire has burned more than 500 acres near Portland, Oregon. The National Weather Service issued red-flag warnings for large parts of Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming.
FL, FAMU SAYS IT'S NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR HAVING DEATH - Florida A&M University is asking a judge to throw out a lawsuit filed against the university by the family of a drum major who died last November after a hazing ritual.

TROPICAL STORM LESLIE SLAMS INTO CANADA - The Canadian Hurricane Centre says the center of Tropical Storm Leslie has made landfall in Fortune, Newfoundland.
SPAIN UNCERTAIN ON BAILOUT OFFER - Spain's Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy said he has yet to decide whether to accept the ECB bailout offer. He insists that what is more important is to continue reducing the deficit through austerity measures and tax rises.
HONG KONG PROTEST - Bailiffs cleared out anti-capitalist activists and their belongings from a site underneath HSBC bank's Asian headquarters in Hong Kong, ending one of the global Occupy movement's longest-running encampments.

SOUTH AFRICA OIL SPILL AFFECTS WILDLIFE - The Seli 1 ran aground a South African beach three years ago and is still threatening bird and marine life. The ship was heavily laden with coal and oil when engine trouble led to it being wrecked on Blouberg Beach, Cape Town in 2009. Pockets of oil still remain and there have been four oil leakages since the accident took place, greatly impacting the wildlife population in the area.
CONTEMPORARY AFRICAN ART - The extraordinary cultural richness and variety of pan African art is attracting global interest from international collectors. They are being drawn by the blend of tradition mixed with contemporary materials and new political ideas being developed by young emerging artists who work is rising in prominence not just in South Africa, but across the continent. An exhibition in Johannesburg has been curated by Marc Stanes from the Equatorial Guinea Museum of Modern Art.
AVANTE-GARDE EXHIBITION OPENS IN LONDON - London's pre-Raphaelite artists combined rebellion and revivalism to create one of the 19th Century's most significant and influential art movements. Now the Tate Britain has brought together a collection of nearly 200 paintings, including works by Dante Gabriel Rossetti and William Holman Hunt.
