CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — The Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston is receiving a $250,000 grant for childhood cancer research.

University officials are scheduled to receive the grant during a presentation on Thursday.

The money comes from the Hyundai Hope on Wheels organization. It is part of more than $10 million being donated this month by the group to 41 pediatric cancer centers across the nation.

During the Charleston presentation, local child cancer patients will put their painted hands on a canvas to create a memento of their battles with the disease.
