INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana is getting $78 million to help seniors and people with disabilities live in their communities instead of nursing homes or other facilities.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services announced the grant Tuesday. The money was provided under the federal health care law.
The CDC says in a news release that states are eligible for the grants if less than half of their total long-term care spending goes toward home and community-based services. It says the health care law offers states additional resources through an increase in their federal Medicaid matching rates for home and community based services, if a state commits to increasing access to these services. Participation in the program is voluntary.
