LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) — IOC President Jacques Rogge is to undergo hip replacement surgery.

The International Olympic Committee says the 70-year-old Belgian will have the "routine" operation this week and be discharged from the hospital after a few days.

Rogge was elected IOC president in 2001, succeeding Juan Antonio Samaranch. He will step down when his term expires in September 2013.
